FAQ's

Frequently asked questions

A diabetic patient using multiple daily injections (MDI) of insulin or is being asked to move to MDI can use Insulin Pumps.

An insulin pump is a small, computerized device that delivers fast-acting insulin 24 hours a day through an infusion site that penetrates your skin with a tiny Teflon or steel tube called a cannula.

The main accessories required are:

  • An insulin reservoir (also called a cartridge) that’s generally replaced every three days
  • An infusion set (tubing, cannula, introducer needle, adhesive pad and sometimes an inserter) that’s usually replaced every three days
  • A battery (AA or AAA)
  • Insulin

Yes, it is possible to disconnect yourself from the pump temporarily, but not for a very long time. If you are disconnected for more than an hour, you may need to replace the missed insulin. Once again, speak with your doctor about specific recommendations. It is important to take everything into account.

You can order insulin pumps online or contact the Customer Service Team via phone toll-free at 866-316-0162 for supplies.
